Donald ‘Da Boss’ Trump Bumps Into RICO in Georgia: 161 Acts
But one might say that Trump’s meeting with RICO, Count 1 of a brand-new indictment courtesy of a grand jury and Fulton County DA Fani Willis, is almost biblical in scope.
There are the 161 separate acts which were in furtherance of the RICO count and/or the conspiracy.
There are 19 named defendants (all are included in the RICO count), among them some names we all know very well … rather the rogue’s gallery, eh?
Not to worry though — Donald Trump is named in 12 other counts also.
Yes, indeed — the rogue’s gallery. Trump, Rudy, Eastman, Meadows, Chesebro, Clark, Ellis, and … wait for it … Sidney “Lady Kraken” Powell.
Let’s see, some other numbers: there are 41 counts in the 98-page indictment.
And, oh yeah, 30 unindicted co-conspirators. These are sometimes also known as cooperating witnesses, or immunized witnesses, or successful plea-bargainers with a witness twist.
Apart from those titles, they are considered points in a continuum that tends to shrink with time, with NOPE, I’LL TAKE MY CHANCES at one end and DAMN RIGHT I’LL HELP YOU SO I CAN STAY OUT OF PRISON at the other.
A fun idea: think of a name that should be among the named defendants but is not; and then speculate about where on the unindicted co-conspirator continuum they might be. I’ll go first:
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), whom I suspect knows quite well the limitations of the Speech and Debate Clause of the Constitution — or his attorney does. I place him in about the middle of the continuum.
I predict we’ll be hearing more about that in due course.
This is all very new, and I’m still working my way through the indictment. For now, I leave you with the initial description of the criminal “enterprise” involved in the RICO count:
Donald, meet RICO. RICO, say hello to Da Boss.
Please take care of yourselves and others and stay healthy and strong.
