Here is Where We Find Out if SCOTUS is a 6–3 Trumpist Court
Still a legitimate final court of appeal, or now just an ideological or political tool?
Special Counsel Jack Smith has gone “all in” in the high-stakes poker match playing itself out in D.C. on two issues that matter the most (so far) to American democracy and the rule of law.
Naturally, this involves Donald Trump.
Hold on to your hats, because if you thought the volte-face the Court did in Dobbs was the worst there ever could be, the newest opportunity for the Court makes it pale by comparison in some ways.
I ask you to ponder this question:
If individual members of the highest court in the land can no longer be trusted to separate out their personal or spiritual preferences on vital constitutional matters, cannot be relied upon to recuse themselves when necessary and appropriate, and will not respect even their own decisional mandates, is the Court still legitimate?
