I saw on Twitter some indication that the GOP House is already talking about cutting off funding…

In the meantime, I’m sure that the special counsel appointed by Garland would continue his work. He is acting without supervision from the DOJ and would only really “need” Garland if he decides to indict Trump. Garland, or his replacement, would have to sign off on that.
