Just peachy for some, but new immunity deals don’t look good for some others

Some of the 16 folks in Georgia who signed the fake elector documents back in 2020 — according to reporting, eight of them — have accepted immunity deals offered by the Fulton County DA.

We don’t yet know precisely the identity of the eight, but going over the backstory can help narrow it down and also help understand the implications for Trump — and several other people.

The original indication of the acceptance of the immunity deals came, oddly enough, from a pleading filed by one of the attorneys for the fake elector defendants — an opposition to the DA’s motion to disqualify that attorney. Buried in that opposition pleading is this paragraph:

The key is the very last sentence, ending with “all eight of the electors who were offered immunity accepted.”

That paragraph contains some helpful clues to things, best understood by first recounting some of the backstory. So, here goes:
