Have you been following the up and down, side to side, wax on wax off saga that is the debt ceiling craziness? I have, and I’ve been wondering about some things.

The first thing I’ve been wondering about is how it seems as if the emergency-like nature of the issue came out of the blue suddenly just a few weeks ago. Does it seem that way to you too?

I mean, wasn’t the fact that the debt ceiling was going to need some attention on or before a certain date something that was known the last time it was an emergency a couple years ago? What, nobody ever heard of calendaring things?

Maybe it just seems that way, and it’s just an initial observation anyway. I have some more focused thoughts to convey.

Now, in this article I don’t intend to downplay the importance of the issue, or even to imply that it’s a simple one, because my focused study into the subject over the last few weeks indicates it is very important and quite complex. For some hint of this, you can review this Wikipedia page to start with.

I’m also not all that interested in the right v. wrong of the parties’ respective positions since I intend to focus on other aspects. Still, it won’t hurt to boil…
