Yes, There Really Are “Trump Judges” Out There

But the definition can be tricky and the impact insidious

New reporting supports the notion of “Trump judges” being out there. Leaving aside the tricky definition for the moment … we’ll circle back to it in a few minutes … it was this article that got my immediate attention. Here’s the headline:

I believe this is the first mention I’ve seen of a sitting judge having been at the J6 rally — and the article is silent on whether the judge in question was also involved in the attack on the Capitol.

Note: the judge in question was a New York judge, not a federal one.

Does his being at the J6 rally for Trump lead to the conclusion he was/is a “Trump judge?” Not being a federal judge, he wasn’t appointed by any president; yet given his apparent support for Trump in violation of his ethical obligations it would not be unreasonable to conclude that he was/is biased toward Donald Trump.

Clearly, he thought it better to resign his judicial position(s) rather than face an imminent Judicial Commission investigation into his activities on January 6th, as the article…
